Youth to clash with experience at Saturday’s Demerara Mutual golf tourney

The annual Demerara Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Medal Play Golf tournament will be contested Saturday at the Lusignan golf Club, East Coast Demerara.

Over 30 golfers are expected to compete in the 18-hole tournament in what is expected to be a battle for supremacy bringing together youth versus experience.

Kishum Bacchus, Jerome Khan and Mike Mangal, the top performers at last weekend’s tournament, will face stiff competition from Mohanlall Dinanauth,  Muntaz Haniff, Boloram Deo, Chatterpaul Deo, Munaff Arjune, Patrick Prashad, Avinda Kishore, Alfred Mentore, William Walker, Carlos Adams, Maurice Solomon, Ian Gouveia, Colin Ming, Robert Hanoman, Esau Shamshudin, Clifford Reis, Mark Lashley, Mike Guyadin, Imran Khan, Dr. Ram Singh, Joaan Deo, Brian Hackett, Gavin Todd, Albert Semple, Mel Sankies and Albert Russell.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers with the best net scores. There will also be a prize for Nearest to the Pin at flag number 8.

Representatives of Demerara Mutual have been invited to present the prizes at the end of the tournament.

Club Captain Patrick Prashad said that the players will assemble for 12:15 for a briefing before tee off at 12:30 hours.

This is another important tournament for the local players who are gearing up for the Suriname Open next month and the Guyana Open in November.
