Goldsmith draws three years for ganja possession

A goldsmith of Number 79 Village, Corriverton was yesterday sentenced to three years in jail after he was found guilty on a charge of possession of 10 grammes cannabis sativa.

Magistrate Omeyana Hamilton imposed the sentence at the Springlands Court yesterday on Joel Davis, 19, and also fined him $10,000.

The prosecution read the evidence through Lance Corporal 16473 Conway who told the court that on the day in question police went to the defendant’s home to investigate a report of break and enter.

They conducted a search on Davis and the drug was found in his pants pocket.
