Minibus driver on $50,000 bail over malicious wounding

-warrant issued for alleged accomplice

One of two men accused of maliciously wounding another was yesterday placed on $50,000 bail when he appeared before acting    Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine–Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation is that on September 22 at Georgetown, Kevin Nascimento and Kwesi Donald maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Troy Hicks.

Initially Nascimento entered a guilty plea to the charge when it was read to him but after listening to his explanation that it was the complainant who first hit him, the magistrate  entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Meanwhile, Donald was not in court and an arrest  warrant was issued for him.

Prosecutor Lionel Harvey in giving the facts of the Case said that on the day in question, the three men had an argument which ended in the two accused becoming violent when they hit the virtual complainant with pieces of wood causing him to sustain a broken jaw.

Nascimento, a minibus driver of Croal and Cummings streets, was later admitted to bail in the sum of $50,000. He was ordered to return to court on November 9.
