Baby among seven injured as car slams into bus

A Route 47 minibus accident left several persons with minor injuries, including a seven-month-old baby boy, after a car on a test drive collided with it at Smyth and Princes streets yesterday.

Reports say the car jumped the intersection even though the minibus had the right of way. The bus was broadsided and toppled several times before coming to a stop. The accident occurred around midday.

Eyewitnesses say the car was being tested and one individual displayed two pieces of cardboards with the words “On Test” written on them which were reportedly taken from the car.

Meanwhile at the hospital, Neephlyah Archer and her baby, Yenessie along with an aunt were among the injured awaiting treatment. Archer’s son had a head injury and a bruise to his left eye while she sustained injuries to her head and complained of hand and back pain.

The aunt who was uninjured said that both the car and the bus were speeding. The bus was slammed by the car on Princess Street  the woman added. “It was a great impact,” the aunt said.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the police station.
