The diaspora can help keep SN alive by paying fee for internet version

Dear Editor,

I want to let you know that I have been reading your internet publication of the Stabroek News almost since its inception. I have found it a great source of information from Guyana, and it has enabled me to keep up with much of the goings-on in Guyana, the crime and all. I understand the open pressures that the government is trying to put on the freedom of information coming from Guyana, and on any entity it feels may be likely to oppose corruption in any way.

I think you are under pressure to charge a fee at this time for your internet publication. What a pity, but in any case, you seem to have no alternative. I am willing to pay double for your subscription fee, whatever it may be. I hope that Guyanese abroad, who want to know what is going on in Guyana in as open a forum as possible are willing to pay more than your suggested fee if they can afford it, as a way to ensure that your paper stays alive.

We in the diaspora can help to keep your paper alive, and hopefully subscribe to the hope of a Guyana regaining itself. Information should not be suppressed.

Yours faithfully,
Lennox Wellington
