‘Tiger Dog’ on gun, ammo charge

At the No. 51 Village Court yesterday, Magistrate Krishndat Persaud remanded a 55-year-old man to prison after he pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of arms and ammunition.

The court heard that on November 9 Hemraj Persaud called ‘Tiger Dog’
had in his possession a 12 gauge shotgun with four matching rounds and one 16-gauge ammo.
According to the facts presented by Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Michael, Persaud was arrested around 12:45 pm by a police patrol after he was seen acting in a suspicious manner.

The ranks stopped and searched him and found the items in a bag.
Sergeant Grant asked for bail to be refused on the grounds of the seriousness and prevalence of offence. Persaud is scheduled to return to court on November 24.
