Crandon’s 117 against the Rest Team, paced Berbice to 369-8 at the end of the first day’s play of the scheduled four-day tournament.
The Berbicians won the toss and as expected decided to take first strike and the move proved the right one as openers Sewnarine Chattergoon and Richard Ramdeen made the Rest Team’s bowlers toil with a century opening stand.

The two put on 128 for the first wicket before Ramdeen was caught at mid-off by Jonathan Foo for 50.

Chattergoon went on to score 87 before he was caught and bowled by Krisendatt Ramoo who ended with 3-80 from a marathon 30 overs.
Kellon Carmichael also picked up three wickets. He ended with 3-43 from 10 overs and his haul included the prized scalp of Royston Crandon who was adjudged LBW for 117.

Wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble was also among the runs making 52 while former West Indies middle order batsman Narsingh Deonarine played  a breezy innings of 30.

Raj Nanan 1-52 from 11 overs and Deion Ferrier, 1-79 from 16 overs were the other wicket-takers.
Berbice left out Maxie De Jonge, Eugene La Fleur, Keon Joseph and Ranga Latchana from their 16-man squad while Moshin Perkins, Sean Hetymeyer and Seon Daniels were omitted from the Rest Team’s line up. The match continues today.
