Contractor has committed to rectifying defects in stadium parking lot

Dear Editor,

Reference is made to a letter over the name of a John King published in the print media recently, regarding alleged “shoddy work now being executed” on the stadium’s tarmac (‘Not a world class parking lot’ SN, December 8).

Both Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr Frank Anthony and I thank the letter-writer, Mr King for his observations.  I too had concerns about the areas of ponding I discovered after inspections after rainfall.  The contractor was immediately contacted and admitted to problems with respect to differences in levels during construction.  He has committed to rectifying his shortcomings as he knows the finished project will not be accepted until all defects are remedied permanently.

Mr. John King is also assured that “the supervising engineers from the Ministry of Public Works” are not “derelict in their duties.”

As a concerned citizen and taxpayer Mr King should also feel free to inspect the completed tarmac after its formal handing-over.

Yours faithfully,
Anthony Xavier
