Bandits rob Corriverton businesswoman, family

Armed bandits struck a businesswoman on Friday night terrorising her family and ransacking her house before escaping with a quantity of cash, jewellery and cell phones.

According to a police press release, at 5.30 on Friday evening at Kingston, Corriverton, Berbice two men armed with a handgun and knife broke through the front door of Mohanie Bidar and tied up her reputed husband Fahia Mohamed before ransacking her house.

Her 13-year-old niece was home at the time. Police said that the men escaped with US$2,000, $30,000, three cell phones and jewellery. Investigations are ongoing.
