Dear Editor,
I must have penned those famous opening words, ‘Dear Editor,’ thousands of times. But here I am penning my final piece of correspondence for this decade, 2010. It is here where I must use a few column inches and restrain myself at the same time from writing long paragraphs as I usually do (much to the horror of my editors) and be short and concise.
I have enjoyed expressing my opinions in these pages during the past years (some 140 letters) and it is at this juncture where I wish all the readers and especially the editor, Ms Cheryl Springer, editor-in-chief, Mr Anand Persaud, and everyone in the editorial department of the Stabroek News best wishes for 2011. Thank you all for the important job you do. Thousands of issues have been raised here during the past year. The letter columns have always been a place of refuge for many persons who have the boldness to speak their mind and face the music afterwards. I certainly have faced the music for my writings here on numerous occasions.
A Happy New Year and may everyone have a fulfilling new decade!
