Fisticuffs after relationship sours – court hears

-man, two women on charges

A man was charged with two counts of assaulting his ex-girlfriend’s cousin and her mother while his ex-girlfriend and her cousin were jointly charged with assaulting him.

Fitzroy Gibson, 27, of 72 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty pleaded not guilty to two counts of unlawfully assaulting Beverly Joseph and Yonette Holder on January 16 at Sandy Babb Street, Kitty.

Meanwhile, Yonette Holder, 17, of 75 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty and Andresa Holder, 18, of 72 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty were jointly charged with unlawfully assaulting Gibson on the same day and at the same place.

According to Gibson’s attorney Mohamed Zafar, his client had been living with Andresa Holder for a year and a half. He said the two were still in a relationship, but Andresa Holder told the court that they had broken up months ago and Gibson was living in the apartment below her.

Andresa Holder said Gibson went upstairs and after taking soap from the garage she told him he did not live upstairs and he cuffed her to her eye.

Yonette Holder told the court that she had rushed over to her cousin’s residence after she heard her screaming. Yonette’s mother, Joseph, also went over and tried to intercede when she was chucked by Gibson.

After listening to their stories, the magistrate placed Gibson on bail of $30,000 on both counts while the Holders were placed on self-bail. They are to return to Court 10 on January 28.
