Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce elects executive

In a press release secretary Krishnanand Raghunandan said Imran Hamid was elected president; Leekha Rambrich, vice president; Tejpaul Adjodhea was returned as treasurer, Bibi Azeez returned as assistant secretary and Adrian Anamayah returned as public relations officer. Hamid takes over from Poonai Bhigroog who served as president for two consecutive terms since 2007. Hamid served as vice president during Bhigroog’s presidency.

According to the release, the chamber played a crucial role in the refurbishing of the Felix Austin Police College at Adventure, Corentyne in 2009. In December the first batch of 34 trained personnel graduated from the newly renovated college. Four chamber members sit on the college’s management committee.

The chamber also hosted the Berbice Expo and Trade Fair for the fifth consecutive year. It also facilitated the completion of the infrastructure of the Rose Hall Town Fire Station, a project it started. The release said the CCCC in collaboration with the Berbice Chamber of Commerce and the Upper Corentyne Chamber of Commerce also negotiated with the Berbice Bridge authorities on the reduction of tariffs for certain categories of vehicles crossing the bridge.
