It is alleged that between January 12 and January 13 at Georgetown, Trevor Fredericks broke and entered and stole a quantity of foodstuff, clothing, one pressure cooker, and four pairs of shoes, all worth a total value of $165,000.
Representing Fredericks, attorney-at-law Paul Fung-A-Fat told the court in his bail application that his client lived with the virtual complainant (VC) for seven years and she had become dissatisfied with him and took the child and went off with another man.
He said that his client went into the house because she had left the five-year-old child alone. Further, Fung-A-Fat contended that his client did not break into the house since he had a key to the place which he used and it was later taken away by the police. He said that his client denies taking anything.
However, the VC stoutly denied leaving her child at home, “I never leave my child in the house. I does tek she with me everywhere I go.”
The VC said further that Fredericks had taken her child from school and kept her for four days. She said that Fredericks called her and told her “I never gon see she back again.”
Meanwhile, in relation to the break and enter matter, the VC told the court that she left to go to her grandmother’s on Wednesday afternoon and when she returned, “all the rations gone and the barrel that my foster mother send for me was half empty.”
The matter was eventually called to the bench and a probation officer was also summoned. After discussion on the matter, the magistrate placed Fredericks on $70,000 bail. His attorney was heard asking for a reduction in the sum but the magistrate kept the bail at the original sum. Fredericks is to return to court on February 25.
