Guard charged with wounding reputed wife with knife

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on Tuesday ordered that a security guard be remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly attacking his reputed wife with a knife after an argument between them.

Orin Tinnis of East Ruimveldt pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding.

He denied that on July 24, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Junie Junor.

Junor, who was also present in court, stated that on the day in question Tinnis came home from work and asked her for his cell phone charger.

She said when she told him that she didn’t know where it was he started arguing with her. She said that Tinnis then picked up a knife and attacked her, hitting her with it and then chucking her to the floor before dealing her several punches about her body.

Tinnis, in a distressed voice, told the court that it is his unfaithfulness to Junor that is the root of recent problems between them.

He noted that it intensified when Junor came home one day and met him and another woman in their bed together.

Junor stated that she was willing to end the matter if Tinnis will compensate her for several household items that were damaged during the beating that he inflicted on her.

The magistrate refused bail for Tinnis and ordered that he return to court today for another hearing into the matter.
