Soldier stabbed fighting off gang of robbers

Treylon Sutton, 28, was stabbed four times with an ice pick.  Relatives told this newspaper that Sutton had been stabbed twice in his back and once to his shoulder and head.

According to relatives, Sutton was on the seawall around 6:45 pm with a female colleague when eight men approached them demanding their valuables. One of the bandits choked the girl while another of the men held an ice pick at Sutton.  They then proceeded to relieve Sutton of his laptop computer, cellular phone and his bag of clothes. The woman was also relieved of her cellular phone.

The relatives said that as the men attempted to escape, Sutton gave chase and caught up with one of the men. A struggle ensued, during which Sutton damaged the man’s ear while also grabbing the man’s cell phone. As the two were struggling, other members of the gang attacked Sutton with ice picks, this newspaper was told.

Police are investigating the matter.
