President commits to providing generator for Nyahbinghi group

President Bharrat Jagdeo committed to providing a generator to the Haile Selassie I Theocracy Reign Divine Order of Nyahbinghi group for its tabernacle when he met with members at his office on Monday.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release the group will be given a 25 KVC generator for lighting its tabernacle located at Wisroc, Region Ten. It is one of three tabernacles the group uses for its cultural activities which include an awareness programme targeting law en-forcement agencies, schools, private and public sectors and all religious and cultural groups in society.

The group aims to foster mutual trust and confidence between government and the larger society towards the Rastafari community in Guy-ana and “secure the rightful future for the enhancement of self confidence and personal growth of youths in the growing world of technology.” Its other tabernacles are located in Linden and Tuc-burg,New Amsterdam, Berbice.

In May the group had approached the President for assistance securing its tabernacle grounds in Linden and Tucburg as well as to establish a secretariat in Georgetown.
GINA said Prime Minister Samuel Hinds also attended the meeting.
