Chainsaw operator killed in drunken brawl

A brawl between two men who were drinking together at Mabura ended with one being fatally stabbed to the chest.

Clive Williams, 38, of Pomeroon River, Essequibo succumbed to a single stab wound sustained to the chest. Three men have since been taken into custody and were being questioned about the chain of events which led to Williams being fatally wounded, a police source said last night.

However, in a press statement issued yesterday afternoon police said that they are investigating the murder of Williams, a chainsaw operator, and that the suspect was arrested and was assisting with investigations.

The incident, according to police, occurred at about 7pm on Tuesday at 23 Miles, Mabura. Investigations, police reported, have revealed that Williams and another man were drinking when an argument developed. During the argument Williams was fatally stabbed.

Meanwhile, this newspaper understands that a team of investigators left for the Mabura location yesterday afternoon.
