The committee is expected to comprise a representative of the Ministry of Sport and the GCB along with a member of the legal profession.

Minister Anthony yesterday met with executives of the GCB at the ministry’s boardroom to discuss the issues affecting the division torn GCB which came to a head following the acid attack on assistant treasurer of the GCB Pretipaul Jaigobin.

According to a release from the GCB, the presence of more than one constitution was one of the problems affecting the organization.

“Against the background in which the presence of more than one constitution presented a problem, it was agreed that a committee comprising one member each from the ministry and the board and a representative of the legal fraternity would be set up to draft a new constitution and present it to the membership for ratification,” the release stated.

The GCB executive were also given advice “on the application of systems for the more efficient handling of financial matters and about ways to secure value for money when undertaking large construction works,” the release added.

According to the release he “appealed to the board’s representatives to put aside the animosity developed over the past months and asked those who previously represented factions to speak with one voice.”

Apart from Dr. Anthony, the Ministry was also represented by Permanent Secretary, Alfred King and Director of Sport Neil Kumar.

The GCB was represented by President Chetram Singh, vice-presidents Bissondial Singh and Faizul Bacchus, Secretary Anand Sanasie, assistant secretary Ronald Williams, Ramsey Ali, Marketing Manager, Public Relations Officer, Terry Holder and chairman of selectors Claude Raphael.
