Schools National Championships…Banks DIH sponsoring incentives for outstanding performers

With the Schools National Swimming, Cycling and Track and Field Championships building up  momentum to its November 9–12 climax, Banks DIH Limited yesterday put in an appearance to sponsor incentives for the outstanding performers at the event.

At their Thirst Park conference room, representatives of the beverage company in the presence of Ministry of Education (MoE) Head of the Physical Education Department Nicholas Fraser, and Principal Assistant Secretary Reginald Brotherson, and other officials, confirmed the company’s support for the event’s new initiative.

The organizers of the event will be presenting incentives to those who do well and Banks DIH has jumped on board to sponsor this plan.
On behalf of the company, Sales and Marketing Executive Carlton Joao noted the longstanding commitment that the company has towards the championships. Joao said further that the company will be making a wide variety of its products available for the athletes at the event.

“Indeed it’s a landmark occasion we are now about to celebrate, the 50th anniversary of the event and as usual this is something that we feel we have to be very integral in. Banks DIH Ltd has always been a partner in these championships and we are heartened to be on board once again this year,” Joao said

“The brands we have on board this year are the Coca-Cola and I-cee products, Vita Malt, and Banks Malta, Tropical Mist water and Powerade, a great energy drink that is produced by the Coca-Cola Company.

Joao stated that with athletes from all over Guyana expected to attend the event, the company just wanted to play its part in helping to make the performances of the athletes better, and the officials as well.

“All of the prize winners will have tokens, compliments of Banks DIH, and not leaving out the officials who have to work putting in their time and effort, we will have something for them also,” Joao added.

Speaking for the MoE, Fraser said that for this year’s championships, being the event’s half century mark, the organizing committee will be seeking a number of improvements. Fraser went on to express gratitude to Banks DIH for coming on board to support one of the ideas in that regard.

“This year we are going to be trying quite a few initiatives to make sure that the championships take a better effect on the athletes. Many of the athletes are not only athletes for their schools, they also are athletes who  belong to clubs and of course this will go a good way in terms of assisting them in their continued training after the championships.”
