The police are probing an armed robbery today committed on an ANSA McAl vehicle during which $1.6M was snatched.
A release from the police today said that ANSA McAl driver Lugman Mohamed of Peters Hall, EBD, and porters Gabriel Hubert of Republic Drive, Beterverwagting, ECD, and Vasile Cantzlaar of East Ruimveldt H/Scheme, Georgetown, were attacked by a man armed with a firearm at about 1.25 pm today.
Investigations revealed that while the driver and porter Gabriel Hubert were in a shop arranging sales, the armed man approached Cantzlaar who was standing by the vehicle and held him at gunpoint. The police say that the perpetrator then took away a bag containing $1.6 million out of the vehicle and escaped on a motorcycle.
Investigations are continuing.
