Man brandished two knives in Sheriff St wounding matter

A man yesterday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a charge of unlawful and malicious wounding and he was refused bail.

It is alleged that on January 29 at Sheriff Street, Georgetown, Brian Singh unlawfully and maliciously wounded Guyaden Sanachar.

Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, told the court that the virtual complainant was standing in front of his brother’s premises when the accused approached him with two knives, apparently intoxicated, and threatened to kill him. The VC reported the matter to the police who were on patrol in the area when the defendant stabbed him to his left ear. The man was arrested by the said patrol.

A probation report was ordered and the man was refused bail by Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry. The matter was adjourned until February 17.
