Taxi driver was shot to the heart – PM report

Taxi driver Charles Caesar died as a result of perforation to the heart and lungs due to a gunshot injury, a post-mortem examination revealed yesterday and investigators are continuing the search for his killer/s.

Crime Chief Seelall Persaud when contacted said that no one has been arrested in relation to this latest murder and that police are continuing their investigations.

Investigators are still trying to ascertain the identity of Caesar’s last passenger who had hired him from in front of the Sheriff Street base.

Twenty-four-year-old Caesar, who was attached to the Ezee Runnings Taxi Service, left the base with a customer around 10:40 pm.

Reports are that he was sitting outside the base when a man approached and requested a taxi. It is unclear where the man was headed.

About ten minutes later, residents of Perry Street, Tucville heard a single gunshot and upon investigating found Caesar lying on the road near his car. All the car doors were open, the interior lights were on and the interior was tumbled.

The keys were also missing.

The motive for the attack remains unclear.
