French Guiana national remanded over illegal entry

John Christian, a French Guiana national accused of entering Guyana illegally, was on Thursday remanded to prison by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

The allegation against Christian is that on Tuesday, at Springlands, Corentyne, Berbice he entered Guyana by sea and disembarked without the consent of an immigration officer.

The man, through his interpreter, denied the illegal entry charge when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Christian was remanded to prison and will make his next court appearance on February 17.
