GT&T 10/10 Cricket Softball competition pulling crowds, sparking exciting matches

The GT&T 10/10 Cricket Softball Competition produced some exciting performances across the country in its second week of competition.

Massive turnouts have been reported countrywide and cricketing vibes are being felt especially in the close games, a press release said.

The Ancient County of Berbice proved to be one of the most productive venues for outstanding performances when the Celebrity Times demolished their opponents with their number three batsman Balram Samaroo scoring a magnificent century.

Samaroo slammed 120 not out of his team’s total score of 195. His innings included 14 sixes and two fours while Roy Jafferally of Memorex XI scored the second century in Berbice.

On the distaff side Melanie Henry of Berbice All Stars stroked a masterful 23 balls 51 not out as her team routed No. 28 Warriors by 63 runs.

Meanwhile, defending Champions Trophy Stall XI and Regal XI are the two most fearsome teams in Georgetown as they weave towards a possible showdown, the release noted.

In the West Coast zone the Gunners Cricket Club and Rising Sun Sports Club was a nail biter as it went into the super over amidst a vocal crowd as the Gunner’s opening batsman smashed a huge six to finalize victory over Rising Sun.

In the mining town of Linden, schoolboy Earl Joseph representing Wisburg Secondary School, scored 109 to record the first century from Linden as they crushed Chennai Superstars.

The tournament so far has seen six centuries being scored, a number of helmet-tricks and hat-tricks being taken and larger crowds are expected as the tournament enters its third week of competition today.
