Region Nine communities in Mash celebration

Several Region Nine communities celebrated Mashramani for what was said to be the first time this year, in observance of the country’s 44th republic anniversary.

The communities of Karasabai, Cracrana and Aranaputa Valley joined together to host a float parade and other activities. With the leadership of 21-year-old Michael Pio of Karasabai, a team of young people assembled and made arrangements.

On Mash day, the communities held a cultural event, having held a flag-raising ceremony on February 22. PNCR-1G Member of Parliament Mervyn Williams who attended the activities had praise for Pio. “I had the pleasure of being present as this remarkable young man possessed of such good organisational skill set about his team’s business.”

“To me it is like returning Mashramani to the folks in whose honour it was named,” Williams said.
