The article captioned ‘White Zone offers domestic violence victims refuge’ in the Sunday Stabroek of April 3, is incorrect.
The report captured news with regard to the general programme at Roadside, as well as news pertaining to the White Zone. USAID is not funding any activity pertaining to the White Zone. USAID is funding a domestic violence project implemented by Roadside. I emphatically told the reporter on the telephone when she called me asking what support the ministry was providing to the White Zone, that we were receiving technical and a little financial support to offset telephone and related expenses incurred in supporting victims of abuse.
I would appreciate the above correction as I do not want the public to have the wrong information.
