Bermuda relegated after losing to UAE

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, CMC – Bermuda were relegated to Division 3 of the ICC World Cricket League, after crumbling to a 43-run defeat against unbeaten the United Arab Emirates yesterday.

Chasing 258 for victory from their 50 overs, Bermuda were dismissed for 214 with 12 balls to spare in the match at Dubai Sports City.

Opener Dion Stovell hit the top score of 77 from 111 balls and Bermuda captain David Hemp supported with 39.

They carried Bermuda to 161 for two in the 35th over, but there was little substance and little stability from the rest of the visitors’ batting.

Nasir Aziz captured four wickets for 44 runs for the UAE, Arshad Ali supported with three for 38, and Ahmed Raza collected two for 34.

Earlier, Irving Romaine was Bermuda’s most successful bowler with four for 37, and Rodney Trott took three for 42, as the UAE reached 257 for nine from their 50 overs.

Amjad Ali led the way with 57, and Saqib Ali made 42.
