Gunmen rob couple at Portuguese Quarters

The police say they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 2200h yesterday at Portuguese Quarters, Corentyne, Berbice, during which Shaho Ibrahim of Bush Lot Village, Corentyne, was attacked and robbed of a number of cell phones valued $2.1 million, 8 MP3 players valued $48,000, two gold rings and other articles by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Investigations, a police release said. revealed that Ibrahim and his wife Ashmin Bacchus were sitting in the verandah of their home when they were held up by the perpetrators, who ransacked the building and took away the articles and escaped.
