Autistic Society hosting fundraising fair Saturday

The Guyana Greenheart Autistic Society is hosting an Autism Awareness and Fundraising Fair to raise money to pay the salaries of teachers at the school for autistic children.

In a press release, the group said the school also needs educational materials and as such hosts fundraisers often. Children enrolled at the Guyana Greenheart Autism School “are taught in a nurturing friendly and compassionate environment.” The school is currently located in the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre.

The fair is being held on the lawns of the Red House on Saturday. It is expected to be a fun-filled event with lots to eat and drink; exciting games, pony rides and a raffle. The entrance fee is $100 for children and $200 for adults. The release said the public can also buy tickets for $1,000 which gives them a meal, from four available options including an international dish. The ticket also automatically gives the ticket-holder entrance to the fair and qualifies them for a chance to win a prize in the raffle.

Gates open from 11.30am.
