‘Cobra’ matters adjourned although witnesses present

The armed robbery and malicious damage to property charges against Tyrone Rowe called “Cobra” were adjourned yesterday because of a “time constraint” facing the court.
Unlike the previous occasion, witnesses were present for continuation of the trial.

When the matters were called before presiding Magistrate Sueanna Lovell, the court was told that an adjournment would be granted as they could not be dealt with because of a “time constraint.”

Corporal Sarrabo, Sergeant Jackson, Sergeant Bowman and Lance Corporal Jermaine Laundry, all attached tothe Criminal Investigation Department, were the witnesses present to testify in the malicious damage to property matter.

Additionally, Sarrabo along with civilian witnesses Leon Hinds and Ronald Edinborough were present to enter the witness box and give evidence in the armed robbery matter.
The matters were then adjourned to June 9.

When the matters were called on April 21 the witnesses were absent and the magistrate granted yesterday’s date for continuation with the expectation that the witnesses would have been present.

The charges respectively stated that on May 16, 2010 at Georgetown, being armed with a gun, Rowe robbed Mark Hunte of two gold chains and a gold band valued $160,000.

On September 4 at the Brickdam Police Station, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged a one-way mirror valued $1.4 million, being the property of the Guyana Police Force.

In addition to these charges, the teenager is also accused of murder. The unrepresented lad remains a prisoner.
