Good Hope logger dies in tree mishap

A logger of Good Hope, Essequibo Coast was killed yesterday morning in a mishap at the worksite, in the Kairuni area, Supenaam Creek.

The dead man is Colin Bunbury, police said in a release last evening.  Bunbury, Stabroek News understands, was in his 50s and was once a pastor of an Assemblies of God church.

According to the police, at about 11:30 am yesterday, Bunbury and other workers were hauling a log up a hill when the chain they were using burst and became entangled with Bunbury’s feet. Consequently, Bunbury was hurled into a tree and sustained injuries about his body, including his back and feet.  He was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations are continuing, police said in the release.
