Security guard accused of maliciously wounding woman

A 30-year-old security guard who is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding a woman was yesterday placed on $60,000 bail after he appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.

The allegation is that on August 15 at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, Omotosho France unlawfully and maliciously  wounded Francene Ross.

It is also alleged  that on the said day the defendant made  use of threatening behaviour to the said Ross where a breach of the peace may be occasioned.

The father of four pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him at the Vreed-en-Hoop court.

According to the facts presented to the court by the prosecution, on the day in question the accused returned home drunk and subsequently an argument erupted  between him and the VC.

During the confrontation the man threatened that he would kill her.

The VC became afraid and reported the matter to the police station and the man was later arrested and charged.

When given a chance to speak the man told the court, “I never tell she I gone kill her ….  I never threatened her.”  He then  pleaded with the court to  be granted bail in a reasonable sum.

The matter will be called again on October 24.
