The police are investigating a fatal accident that took place at Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, and which resulted in the death of a 79-year-old pedestrian.
According to a police press release, at around 07:00 hrs yesterday, the driver of motor lorry GEE 7332 was reversing along John Street, Queenstown, when he allegedly struck down Henry Sookra, who was walking along the roadway.
The release said Sookra was taken to the Suddie Hospital for medical treatment where he later died. The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
