Good news that Nagamootoo has joined the AFC

Dear Editor,

The best two pieces of news this week were that Mr Moses Nagamootoo had withdrawn from the PPP/C and then that he had joined the AFC. What the PPP has done to Mr Nagamootoo is appalling. As someone who was extremely disappointed that Mr Nagamootoo was denied the opportunity to be the PPP presidential candidate since 1997, I am sure now that Mr Nagamootoo within the AFC will contribute immensely to the changing dynamics of this current election to show that this Republic does not belong to either the PNC or PPP.

The actions meted out to Ms Valerie Garrido-Lowe by Mr Manzoor Nadir were disgraceful. How can he take back the leadership of the TUF and kick Ms Lowe out after he publicly supported her ascent to the leadership of the TUF? Just because she has a mind of her own? Then he replaced her with someone while he goes on to join the PPP. One hopes that the Amerindian supporters have taken note and will continue to support Ms Lowe who is now part of the AFC. It is apparent that Mr Nadir felt that Ms Lowe would have just been his puppet leader until he saw she had a mind of her own.

Mr Nadir is now firmly part of the PPP clique, sitting on their election rally platforms, and they must have been aware of the actions he planned. It boggles my mind how someone can take back the leadership after a legal election in any organisation or country. This is not democracy.

I don’t think anyone can figure out how Joey Jagan‘s mind works. He means well but he is a confused man. He had problems with the PPP since his father became president in 1992. He picketed GPL in those days. He left them again after a brief stint in 1997. Surely Dr Joey Jagan doesn’t really think the PPP has changed? Look at the corruption he talks about; doesn’t he know Mr Ramotar must be aware of it? He did nothing and said nothing. I will bet that Dr Joey Jagan will not last a year in the PPP.

Yours faithfully,
Ganesh Singh
