Charlestown, Rasville and Island All-Stars record victories in street football competition

The third annual Banks DIH sponsored Guinness in the Streets football tournament, got underway last evening with Charlestown, Rasville and Island All-Star securing round one triumphs at the Albouystown Basketball Court.

In the opening game Charlestown defeated Beterverwagting (BV) 3-2. Michael Payne, Jamal Benons and own goals in the 3rd, 7th and 11th minutes scored for Charlestown, while Akeme Charles and Gramo Harris in the 1st and 4th scored for BV.

The second encounter saw Rasville clinching a tight 1-0 victory over Kingston thanks to a Rocky Cumberbatch goal in the 3rd minute.

While in the third game, which was easily the most exciting one on view, Island All-Stars (IAS) toppled Kitty 2-0 in     exciting end-to-end encounter.

Both teams clearly went in with the approach that attack was the best form of defence, with a plethora of chances being created, but neither side capitalized as they went into the seven and half minute half-time interval, with the scores surprisingly deadlocked 0-0.

This trend continued deep into the second half and just when it seems the game would end goal-less, Paul Port and Devon Hyman scored in the 15th and 16th minutes for IAS, denting the morale of a Kitty side that played some good football.

Other scheduled games last night were: Sophia vs Globe Yard, D’Urban Street vs Broad Street B, Alexander Village vs North Last Entrance, Albouystown B vs Leopold Street, Norton Street vs Albouystown A.
