Labourer assaulted woman with a Bible- court told

A 40-year-old labourer who allegedly assaulted a woman because she did not allow him into her bedroom was yesterday placed on $20,000 bail after he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation is that on November 29 at D’urban Street, Lodge the accused Kevin Messiah unlawfully assaulted Metisha Cains.

However, the man pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
In presenting the facts Prosecutor Jairam Luckhai told the court that on the day the accused visited the VC’s home and demanded that he enter the  bedroom. The woman put up a resistance and the man became annoyed and picked up a Bible and lashed her to the head.

After stating the facts the prosecution had no objection to bail. The matter was adjourned until December 12.
