Victory Valley robbery suspect held by residents

Victory Valley, Linden residents yesterday held a robbery suspect and handed him over to police who later investigated and found an unlicensed weapon

A release from the police today said that on Saturday Decase Wintz, 22 years of Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden, was attacked and robbed by a man armed with a firearm at Sunflower Street, Wismar, who took away his jewellery, cash and cell phone and escaped.

At about 3.30 pm yesterday, the victim saw the suspect at Victory Valley and along with residents of the community apprehended him and handed him over to the police at Wismar Police Station, the police said.

The suspect was searched and the stolen cell phone was recovered in his possession.  Further investigations led to the recovery of an unlicensed .38 Smith and Wesson revolver with three rounds, the release added.

The suspect is in police custody and will be charged shortly.
