Accused Potaro ganja trafficker remanded

Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton yesterday remanded a man who is accused of trafficking 295 grammes of cannabis at Potaro-Siparuni. Adrian David denied that on August 9, at Konawaruk Junction, Potaro, Siparuni, he had in his possession the cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.

David’s attorney, Adrian Thompson, asked the court to grant his client bail for “medical reasons,” given that he is sickly.

However, Police Corporal Venetta Pindar objected, saying that the defence did not present any special circumstances to the court relating to the offence for bail to be considered.

David was remanded and ordered to appear at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court on October 19.
