Police nab suspected robber of Parika businesswoman

Police said that at about 2130h last night, businesswoman Chandrawattie Ali, 50 years, of Parika, EBE, returned home, parked her vehicle  on the bridge and proceeded to open the gate to her premises.

During this, police said that a man grabbed a haversack that was left in the vehicle and which contained $380,000 and a cheque valued $3.8M and fled in a waiting motor car PNN 659.

The police responded promptly to the report received and intercepted the motor vehicle which was found parked at Tuschen, EBE, the police said.

A man who was in the vehicle was arrested. He was subsequently searched and the sum of $184,000 found in his possession. He has also been positively identified by the victim as the man who snatched the bag from her vehicle.

He is in custody while the police are continuing their search for two other suspects.
