UG opening doors to persons without required CSEC subjects

Persons who would like to attend the University of Guyana (UG) but who do not have the required CSEC/GCE qualifications can register to write the Entrance Examination on January 27, at both the Turkeyen and Tain campuses, the university said yesterday.

“A pass at this examination will be valid for entry into the University of Guyana for a period of two years,” Assistant Registrar of Admissions Kashka St. Hillaire was quoted as saying in a UG statement.

The statement said persons who are twenty-six years old who do not have the required number of CSEC/GCE subjects at the required number of sittings, including English Language and Mathematics, but have work experience in the required field of study are eligible to write the Entrance Examination.

Other persons eligible to write the examination are those persons who are under twenty-six years of age and have the required number of passes but at more than the specified number of sittings, and persons with certificates and diplomas from the Burrowes School of Art and Critchlow Labour College, and Registered Nurses who do not have CSEC/GCE passes in Mathematics and English Language, the statement added.

Interested persons are invited to contact the Admissions Division, Turkeyen Campus, or the Administration Office, Berbice Campus, before January 26.
