Linden bus conductor jailed for ganja trafficking

A 24-year-old minibus conductor of Linden will be spending more than two years behind bars after he was found guilty of trafficking in cannabis.
Jerome Samuels who gave his address as Blue Berry Hill, Wismar, Linden was evidently shocked when Magistrate Ann McLennan passed the verdict in the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court at Linden on Tuesday. He had pleaded not guilty.

Samuels was stopped and searched by police officers on  September 10 last year on the West Watooka Public Road and was found with 47 ½ grams of cannabis.

He was arrested and taken into custody and subsequently charged with having the cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Police told the court that Samuels was observed acting in a suspicious manner while riding a motorcycle after he noticed the police approaching.

He was sentenced to two years, eight months in prison in addition to a $42,750 fine.
