Hope Secondary created biogas digester

The creation of alternative sources of energy was the focus of students and teachers of Hope Secondary School who attended the Region Four Department of Education’s Science, Mathematics and technology Fair held at the Diamond Secondary School on March 13 and 14.

Their biogas digester project was based on the idea of producing methane gas from animal waste which is combined with water and then placed in the sun. Tricia Khan explained that their project can create sufficient amounts of methane gas that can be used in the home.

She further stated that in creating the project which took about a week, the students were very excited about the idea and would work after school to ensure the successful completion of it.

Stabroek News had inadvertently omitted Hope Secondary’s attendance at the Region Four fair in its earlier report.
