Cops looking for bus operators after evicted passenger’s death

Police are still searching for the minibus operators that evicted a sickly Kelroy Kazer, of Paramakatoi, who died on the Versailles Public Road afterward.

The man’s body was found in the vicinity of the Aracari Resort, Versailles, on the West Bank of Demerara on Sunday last after residents alerted police.

The police said Kazer was in a minibus travelling from Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo to Georgetown and complained of shortness of breath and tightness in the stomach. The minibus was then stopped and Kazer was asked to exit and he died.

Police confirmed that the man’s cousin and wife positively identified him at the Ezekiel Funeral home on Monday, where he had been since his corpse was picked up on Sunday.

The man’s son, Carlos Jacobis, told Stabroek News that his father lived in Region 8 but was visiting his cousin in the Tuschen Housing Scheme because he was ill. He stated that Kazer was headed to the Georgetown Public Hospital to receive treatment, since he had been suffering from appendicitis symptoms. He added that there was a possibility that Kazer also had malaria.

The autopsy on Kazer’s body will be performed tomorrow.
