Training sessions for umpires to start May 29

The Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association is inviting all persons interested in being trained as umpires. The GCU&SA will be holding lecture sessions starting on May 29 and the objective is to produce quality umpires in Guyana.   The sessions will be carried on at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) Pavilion from 17:00 hrs-19:00 hrs  on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Persons interested in training to become professional umpires are asked to make contact with the GCU&SA on telephone numbers 227-8090/2182797 or visit the office at CCWU headquarters, 140 Quamina Street, Georgetown. According to executives of the association, there will be implementation of a fitness standard to benefit almost everyone in the cricket fraternity at the training sessions.  The GCU&SA is urging the public to take advantage of the offer this time around since the time span is limited and the course will be running  for two months.

The association is also hoping for a positive response from the public since it will be beneficial for persons interested in making umpiring a profession.

Registration fee for the sessions is $1000 per person.
