Two men on bond in threatening language case

Trevor Sealy and Guy Gittience were placed on a bond   to keep the peace for six months after they appeared yesterday before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court in a threatening language case.

The court heard that on May 25 at D’Urban Street Gittience made use of threatening language to Sealy whereby a breach of the peace may be occasioned.

According to the facts of the case, on the day in question at about 5:30pm the virtual complainant (VC) heard a knock on his door at Lot 148 D’Urban Street, Lodge. Upon opening his door he saw his neighbour Odessa Cummings.

There was an exchange of words and a  short while after the defendant arrived at the VC’s door and knocked. When the VC opened and saw him he inquired what he was doing there.

The accused then asked what was going on between the VC and Cummings. He then threatened to shoot the VC. A report was made subsequently to the East La Penitence Police Station and Gittience was arrested and later  charged.

When given a chance to speak Gittience told the court that he had received a call from Cummings saying that the VC was abusing her verbally.

He said that when he got to the VC’s home he asked what the matter between the two of them was and according to him the VC began to raise his voice.

However, Gittience admitted having an exchange of words with the VC because he got upset. He said that the VC told him that he was seeing Cummings, his fiancée, since November.

Gittience said that it was then that he used a bad word.  The magistrate reprimanded both men and placed them on a six-month bond to keep the peace.
