Three remanded over murder of miner at D’Urban Street bar

The three men accused of robbing and shooting Glen Xavier who later succumbed to his injuries at the Georgetown Hospital, were charged and remanded to prison whenthey appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Hazel-Octive Hamilton yesterday.
Faisal Moore, Ray Yokum and Steffon Campbell were charged with the murder of  Xavier during the course of a robbery on May 9 at D’Urban Street.

They are expected to return to court on May 29, when the matter will continue.

Glen Xavier, 26, of Harlem, West Coast Demerara and Orin John, 48, of St Cuthbert’s Mission, were both shot and robbed around 9 pm at the Corn Bread Mini Mart hangout spot at D’Urban and Lime streets.

Two men armed with handguns carried out the attack and shot the miners during a scuffle, before escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash on two Honda CG motorcycles. Xavier, who was shot in his chest and left hand, later succumbed to his injuries.
