Office assistant charged with stealing from Rohee

An office assistant at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday was placed on $75,000 bail by  Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton after he was accused of stealing half a million dollars from the Minister of Home Affairs.

Semion Kissoon, 20, of Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was charged with simple larceny after he allegedly stole $500,000 from Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee between May 17-21 while being  employed as an office assistant with the minister.

Bail was granted on condition that Kissoon reports to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters every Friday.
The matter will continue in court today.
