(Reuters) – The Oklahoma City Thunder booked their place in the National Basketball Association (NBA) finals with a series-clinching 107-99 win over the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs yesterday.
The Thunder, still riding momentum after halting the Spurs’ 20-game winning streak last week, registered their fourth consecutive win to clinch the best-of-seven Western Conference championship 4-2 on their home court.
“We’re just playing and doing it for each other, and great things can happen when you do it for each other,” veteran guard Derek Fisher said in an on-court interview after the game.
Kevin Durant, the NBA’s top scorer in the regular season, led the Thunder with a game-high 34 points and 14 rebounds and played the entire 48 minutes as Oklahoma City overcame an 18-point first-half deficit with a blistering second half.
Oklahoma City will play the winner of the Eastern Conference final between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat in the best-of-seven NBA championship series.
The Celtics host the Heat today, with Boston leading the series 3-2.
