Professor Cambridge to speak on media content at GMPA lecture

Guyanese Dr Vibert Cambridge, Professor Emeritus, School of Media Arts and Studies, Scripps College of Communication, Ohio University, will be the featured speaker at a breakfast lecture sponsored by the Guyana Media Proprietors Association (GMPA) Inc next Saturday.

Professor Cambridge is here on official Ohio University business and he will also be working closely with Dr Paloma Mohamed, Head of the University of Guyana (UG) Centre for Communications Studies and will be meeting schools and organisations within UG as well as its affiliates and partners, according to a GMPA press release.

Professor Cambridge has managed communication projects for UNESCO, USAID and other international organizations in Africa, Asia, Caribbean, and Europe.

Between 2008 and 2011, he co-ordinated Ohio University’s engagement on the USAID/Higher Education for Development/Ohio University/University of Guyana partnership to upgrade mass communication and journalism in Guyana. He now teaches courses in international communication, comparative media systems, and media and social change.

The breakfast session will be at the Convention Centre, Ocean View International Hotel.
