Friendship man died from stab wound, pathologist testifies

Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh yesterday testified that a stab wound to the right side of the chest was the operating factor resulting in Nohar Bahadur’s death, when the trial of Sherwin Barnwell continued yesterday in the High Court before Justice Franklyn Holder.

Dr Singh’s evidence, which concluded yesterday’s hearing, did mention that Bahadur also received injuries to his head with a blunt object along with the stab wound believed to have been caused by a knife. The injuries caused by the blunt object alone, according to Dr Singh, could not have resulted in Bahadur’s death.

A previous police witness, Hamlet Da Silva, also continued his evidence yesterday. However, he will continue his testimony on Monday when the trial resumes. Both witnesses were cross-examined by defence counsel Norma Lewis.

Bahadur had reportedly left his Friendship, East Bank Demerara home for a barbeque, where he had an argument with a man.  Later, while heading home he was confronted by two men on a bicycle.

It was reported that the men robbed Bahadur and then beat him to death. His body was discovered next to his home with marks of violence and his face damaged beyond recognition.
